How much does an Emma mattress cost?

The concept of cost can be very loose in the world of mattresses.

With so many sales and offers on third-party websites like Amazon, you can get the Emma mattress at a cheaper price. 💰

The price of the mattress depends on its size.

The cost of an Emma mattress can range between ₹17,999 to ₹34,997.

The Emma mattress India lasts longer than the average, low-priced mattress options.

If you consider their lifespan, the mattresses aren't that expensive in the long run.

Let's say the Emma mattress in king size costs you ₹34,997.

If the mattress lasts for 10 years, it'll cost you only ₹9.7 per day.

That's less than a small cup of tea, making the mattress a good investment.

Even though Emma is a good long-term investment, it may not fit everyone's budget.

That's perfectly fine.

There are other brands that offer high-quality mattresses at affordable prices.

If you're looking for a memory foam or orthopaedic mattress, you can try Flo mattresses or SleepyCat mattresses.

Emma mattress composition

Emma offers a high-quality memory foam mattress.

This mattress was developed in Germany over several years offering you unparalleled technology at a pocket-friendly price.

The mattress is manufactured in India. 🇮🇳

Emma original mattress layers.
Image: © Sleep Hero

The Emma mattress in India comprises three layers of foam that work together to give you exceptional support and comfort.

These are the three different foam layers of the mattress:

  • The top layer is made of Airgocell foam.
  • The middle core layer is made of viscoelastic HRX foam with contour zones.
  • The bottom layer consists of supportive cold foam.

All these foams are of high quality, which speaks for the durability and longevity of the mattress.

Unfortunately, mattresses offered by Emma are no longer available in India.

Instead of these you can try other high quality memory foam mattresses like Flo mattress or Wakefit mattress.

Airgocell foam

The top layer of the Emma mattress is made of Airgocell foam.

This patented foam technology has an open-pored cell structure that improves the overall breathability of the mattress.

The 3 cm thick foam support layer regulates the temperature within the mattress by allowing all excess heat to pass through. 🥵

This new, patented foam technology counteracts the heat-retaining properties of memory foam and keeps your mattress cool on warmer nights.

Visco-Elastic HRX Foam

The middle layer of the Emma mattress consists of NASA - developed viscoelastic foam.

This high-resilience foam has a soft surface that allows contouring, and the slow response reduces the bounce of the memory foam.

The top layers offer comfort while the contoured base provides stability and support. Image: © Sleep Hero

The zero-gravity foam, designed using Space technology, provides continuous zones optimised for perfect spinal alignment. 🛸

The high-density foam provides body-hugging comfort.

Cold Foam

The base layer of the mattress consists of supportive cold foam with a high density.

It is made of polyurethane foam, which is foamed in large blocks and stores heat well.

This makes the Emma mattress much more adaptable and hypoallergenic. 🤧

With the necessary support from the base layer, it provides optimal relief for your spine.

The cold foam gives you more stability overall and ensures the mattress's durability.

Who is the Emma mattress suitable for?

Emma offers an award-winning mattress that meets the highest standards.

It's no surprise that this mattress is suitable for a wide range of sleepers, including infants. 👶🏼

Here is an overview of who the Emma mattress is best suited for.

Who is the Emma mattress suitable for? Who is the Emma mattress not suitable for?
Side sleepers of any weight Restless sleepers who toss and turn frequently while sleeping
Good for couples looking for motion isolation Back sleepers or stomach sleepers who are heavier in weight
Lighter weight or average weight sleepers People who quickly feel hot at night
Sleepers with orthopaedic concerns

Side Sleepers

The Emma mattress in India is very contoured and evenly distributes the mattress's weight.

This makes the mattress suitable for side sleepers and relieves the hips and shoulders.

Additional layers on the Emma deepen the contouring and provide the perfect support for the spine.

Couples looking for motion isolation

If your partner is restless or has different sleeping patterns, the Emma mattress is perfect for you.

The mattress comprises three thick layers of foam that prevents any motion transfer. 🧽

The layers work together to absorb and dampen movement, so it's not carried across the mattress.

This means you can enjoy a restful night's sleep without being disturbed by your partner tossing and turning.

Average weight sleepers

The Emma mattress consists of four foam layers that distribute your body weight evenly on the bed.

It makes the mattress suitable for average-weight sleepers.

The top layer of memory foam serves as a comfort layer and moulds closely to your body.

The second layer of polyfoam, on the other hand, reinforces the contouring.

This snug fit eases tension and relieves pressure.

Average-weight sleepers sink neither too deep nor too little into the mattress and thus receive perfect support. ⚖️

Emma mattresses are now no longer available in india.

But, you can choose the mattress most suitable for you, from our favourite Emma alternatives.

Firmness of an Emma mattress

Emma mentions her original mattress as a medium-firm mattress.

But some of our testers have tried it, and we would rather mention it on the softer side.

While softer mattresses aren't very supportive, the Emma mattress is surprisingly comfortable.

We rate the mattress 4 out of 10 on our Sleep Hero firmness scale. 📏

Emma Original firmness scale.
Image: © Sleep Hero

Considering the firmness of the mattress, the Emma is perfect for people weighing between 50 and 130 kg.

While the mattress supports all sleeping positions, people on their side find it most comfortable.

Measuring sinkage depth

The best way to measure the firmness of a mattress is to test how deep it sinks.

This is also a good indicator of how supportive a mattress is for people sleeping in different positions.

Our sleep testers tried the Emma mattress to test how deep it sinks when you sleep. 👩🏻

Emma Original mattress sinkage.
By measuring how deeply we sink into the mattress, we can better understand stability and support. Image: © Sleep Hero

During our test, we consistently measured the sinking of the mattress in the same place:

  • While sleeping on the back and side, we measured the sinkage at the hips and shoulders.
  • When sleeping on the stomach, we measured the sinkage at the stomach.

Here's a brief overview of our sleep test.

Person A (165cm / 62kg) Person B (179cm / 70kg) Person C (195cm / 85kg)
Sleeping on the back 5 cm (1.9 inches) 6 cm (2.3 inches) 6.5 cm (2.5 inches)
Sleeping on the side 5.5 cm (2.1 inches) 6 cm (2.3 inches) 7.5 cm (2.9 inches)
Sleeping on the stomach 5 cm (1.9 inches) 6 cm (2.3 inches) 7 cm (2.7 inches)
Sitting on the edge 7.5 cm (2.9 inches) 8 cm (3.1 inches) 9 cm (3.5 inches)

The values we found in our sleep test are typically found in softer mattresses.

We found that our light and medium sleepers neither sink too little nor too deeply into the mattress.

However, our heavyweight test sleeper sank quite deeply into the mattress.

The Emma mattress India provides the proper support for light and medium sleepers or people with a smaller stature. 🛌

Although the mattress was able to support the spine and its alignment, people who weigh more than 80 kg might find the mattress too soft for them.

You can try out other firmer mattresses like SleepyCat Original or Sleepwell Activa Firmtech mattress.

Testing Edge Support

Besides the sinking in, we also tested the edge stability of the mattress. 🧐

Like other bed-in-a-box mattresses, Emma offers sleepers average edge support.

By edge support, we mean the support you experience from the mattress when sitting on the edge.

This can be either before you get up in the morning or when tying your shoelaces.

You won't get the best edge support with the Emma mattress. Image: © Sleep Hero

If a mattress has poor edge support, you feel like you're slipping, especially when you sit on the edge or sleep close to the edge.

Usually, softer mattresses have inadequate edge support.

Emma offers average edge support, which means you may not feel like you're sliding down the edge, but it doesn't necessarily provide the support you need.

If you are looking for a good edge support, Sleepwell mattresses are a good alternative.

How comfortable is an Emma mattress?

When tested by our sleepers, they reported the Emma mattress to be "pleasantly soft".

The comfort of the mattress comes from the combination of the two top layers.

The Airgocell and HRX foams of the mattress are adaptable and easily conform to body types. 🧽

The mattress is also point-elastic, which provides pressure relief and helps you relax your muscles.

Is the Emma mattress good for back pain?

The Emma mattress is a good choice if you are looking for orthopaedic mattresses to support your bad back. 😮‍💨

If you suffer from back pain, you should look for a mattress that keeps your spine upright, provides pressure relief at points, as well as cushioning.

As we mentioned earlier, the Emma mattress offers just that.

The mattress relieves pressure points, allowing your muscles to fully relax and offering comfort to your back pain.

Does the Emma mattress sleep hot?

Unlike most memory foam mattresses, Emma regulates your body heat amazingly well.

The mattress has Airgocell foam on the top and a cover made of mesh layers that makes it breathable. 💨

It also allows airflow and reduces heat retention during sleep.

The breathable cover and comfort layer allows heat to escape from the mattress effectively, lowering the overall temperature and increasing sleeping comfort.

However, when talking about peak Indian summers, this mattress might make you sweat a little more, especially if you live in humid weather. 🥵

If you get hot too quickly, you should stay away from pure memory foam mattresses and try hybrid or pocket spring mattresses instead.

Pocket spring or hybrid mattress combines memory foam with springs and keeps your mattresses much cooler.

You could try Peps mattresses instead.

Heat retention in Emma Mattress

The best part about the Emma mattress is that it only stores heat where the test sleeper lies.

The rest of the mattress remains temperature-neutral.

Here you can see a heat map of the Emma mattress.

Thanks to the upper mesh cover and the comfort foam, the heated areas cool down effectively as soon as the sleeper moves.

This keeps the entire mattress breathable and comfortable by efficiently regulating the temperature. 😮‍💨

Frequently asked questions

  • How long will Emma Mattress last?

The Emma mattress is designed to last and give you the right amount of mattress.

If you take good care of your mattress, it can last up to 10 years.

  • Do Emma mattresses get softer?

Emma offers a high-quality and durable mattress whose quality doesn't decline over time. 👌🏼

Even if the mattress is slightly towards the softer side, it will not get softer over time.

  • Do I need to rotate my Emma mattress?

The Emma mattress should not be flipped.

To get the highest comfort and keep the mattress breathable, the Airgocell layer should always be on top.

However, you can turn the mattress over every few months to improve its durability. 🔄

Emma recommends that you rotate the mattress every month for the first 6 months and every 3 months thereafter.

  • How do you take care of the Emma mattress?

To take care of your Emma mattress, keep it clean and rotate it once every 3 months.

The mattress has an outer cover that you can easily remove and is machine-washable at 60°C.

You can remove small stains on your mattress cover with mild detergent.

  • What are common Emma mattress problems?

One of the main problems of Emma is the lack of edge support.

Just like other bed-in-the-box, the Emma mattress may not be the best choice for couples or older people who prefer to sit on the bed before getting up. 👵🏼

Even though Emma describes the mattress as medium firm, it's slightly softer.

Despite the breathable layer on top, Emma may not be the best mattress for the Indian summer, especially if you live in a coastal area.

If the weather gets too humid, your mattress might feel hot at night.
