How much does an Emma mattress cost?
The concept of cost can be very loose in the world of mattresses.
With so many sales and offers on third-party websites like Amazon, you can get the Emma mattress at a cheaper price. 💰
The price of the mattress depends on its size.
The cost of an Emma mattress can range between ₹17,999 to ₹34,997.
The Emma mattress India lasts longer than the average, low-priced mattress options.
If you consider their lifespan, the mattresses aren't that expensive in the long run.
Let's say the Emma mattress in king size costs you ₹34,997.
If the mattress lasts for 10 years, it'll cost you only ₹9.7 per day.
That's less than a small cup of tea, making the mattress a good investment.
Even though Emma is a good long-term investment, it may not fit everyone's budget.
That's perfectly fine.
There are other brands that offer high-quality mattresses at affordable prices.
Unfortunately, Emma products are not available in India anymore. 😞
Our favourite Emma mattress alternatives
Emma mattress composition
Emma offers a high-quality memory foam mattress.
This mattress was developed in Germany over several years offering you unparalleled technology at a pocket-friendly price.
The mattress is manufactured in India. 🇮🇳
The Emma mattress in India comprises three layers of foam that work together to give you exceptional support and comfort.
These are the three different foam layers of the mattress:
- The top layer is made of Airgocell foam.
- The middle core layer is made of viscoelastic HRX foam with contour zones.
- The bottom layer consists of supportive cold foam.
All these foams are of high quality, which speaks for the durability and longevity of the mattress.
The top layer of the Emma mattress is made of Airgocell foam.
This patented foam technology has an open-pored cell structure that improves the overall breathability of the mattress.
The 3 cm thick foam support layer regulates the temperature within the mattress by allowing all excess heat to pass through. 🥵
This new, patented foam technology counteracts the heat-retaining properties of memory foam and keeps your mattress cool on warmer nights.
Visco-Elastic HRX Foam
The middle layer of the Emma mattress consists of NASA - developed viscoelastic foam.
This high-resilience foam has a soft surface that allows contouring, and the slow response reduces the bounce of the memory foam.
The zero-gravity foam, designed using Space technology, provides continuous zones optimised for perfect spinal alignment. 🛸
The high-density foam provides body-hugging comfort.
The base layer of the mattress consists of supportive cold foam with a high density.
It is made of polyurethane foam, which is foamed in large blocks and stores heat well.
This makes the Emma mattress much more adaptable and hypoallergenic. 🤧
With the necessary support from the base layer, it provides optimal relief for your spine.
The cold foam gives you more stability overall and ensures the mattress's durability.
Firmness of an Emma mattress
Emma mentions her original mattress as a medium-firm mattress.
But some of our testers have tried it, and we would rather mention it on the softer side.
While softer mattresses aren't very supportive, the Emma mattress is surprisingly comfortable.
We rate the mattress 4 out of 10 on our Sleep Hero firmness scale. 📏
Considering the firmness of the mattress, the Emma is perfect for people weighing between 50 and 130 kg.
While the mattress supports all sleeping positions, people on their side find it most comfortable.
Measuring sinkage depth
The best way to measure the firmness of a mattress is to test how deep it sinks.
This is also a good indicator of how supportive a mattress is for people sleeping in different positions.
Our sleep testers tried the Emma mattress to test how deep it sinks when you sleep. 👩🏻
During our test, we consistently measured the sinking of the mattress in the same place:
- While sleeping on the back and side, we measured the sinkage at the hips and shoulders.
- When sleeping on the stomach, we measured the sinkage at the stomach.
Here's a brief overview of our sleep test.
|Person A (165cm / 62kg)||Person B (179cm / 70kg)||Person C (195cm / 85kg)|
|Sleeping on the back||5 cm (1.9 inches)||6 cm (2.3 inches)||6.5 cm (2.5 inches)|
|Sleeping on the side||5.5 cm (2.1 inches)||6 cm (2.3 inches)||7.5 cm (2.9 inches)|
|Sleeping on the stomach||5 cm (1.9 inches)||6 cm (2.3 inches)||7 cm (2.7 inches)|
|Sitting on the edge||7.5 cm (2.9 inches)||8 cm (3.1 inches)||9 cm (3.5 inches)|
The values we found in our sleep test are typically found in softer mattresses.
We found that our light and medium sleepers neither sink too little nor too deeply into the mattress.
However, our heavyweight test sleeper sank quite deeply into the mattress.
The Emma mattress India provides the proper support for light and medium sleepers or people with a smaller stature. 🛌
Although the mattress was able to support the spine and its alignment, people who weigh more than 80 kg might find the mattress too soft for them.
Testing Edge Support
Besides the sinking in, we also tested the edge stability of the mattress. 🧐
Like other bed-in-a-box mattresses, Emma offers sleepers average edge support.
By edge support, we mean the support you experience from the mattress when sitting on the edge.
This can be either before you get up in the morning or when tying your shoelaces.
If a mattress has poor edge support, you feel like you're slipping, especially when you sit on the edge or sleep close to the edge.
Usually, softer mattresses have inadequate edge support.
Emma offers average edge support, which means you may not feel like you're sliding down the edge, but it doesn't necessarily provide the support you need.
If you are looking for a good edge support, Sleepwell mattresses are a good alternative.
Does the Emma mattress sleep hot?
Unlike most memory foam mattresses, Emma regulates your body heat amazingly well.
The mattress has Airgocell foam on the top and a cover made of mesh layers that makes it breathable. 💨
It also allows airflow and reduces heat retention during sleep.
The breathable cover and comfort layer allows heat to escape from the mattress effectively, lowering the overall temperature and increasing sleeping comfort.
However, when talking about peak Indian summers, this mattress might make you sweat a little more, especially if you live in humid weather. 🥵
If you get hot too quickly, you should stay away from pure memory foam mattresses and try hybrid or pocket spring mattresses instead.
You could try Peps mattresses instead.
Heat retention in Emma Mattress
The best part about the Emma mattress is that it only stores heat where the test sleeper lies.
The rest of the mattress remains temperature-neutral.
Here you can see a heat map of the Emma mattress.
Thanks to the upper mesh cover and the comfort foam, the heated areas cool down effectively as soon as the sleeper moves.
This keeps the entire mattress breathable and comfortable by efficiently regulating the temperature. 😮💨
What else does Emma offer?
While a good mattress is essential for sleep, Emma India also offers other accessories that ensure a comfortable sleeping environment.

Also, you don't have to worry about spills as the protector is waterproof.

Emma mattress trial periods and returns
The Emma mattress comes with a 100-nights trial period as standard, which starts on the day your mattress is delivered.
But why are these trial periods so important? 🤔
It can take between 4 and 6 weeks to get used to the surface and material of the mattress.
However, if after 6 weeks you still wake up with back pain or feel uncomfortable sleeping on the mattress, it may not be the best mattress for you.
Emma mattress returns
If you do not feel comfortable on the Emma mattress, you can easily return it and request a full refund during the trial period.
The return is free of charge and is organised by Emma India.
