The top layer of the Emma mattress is made of Airgocell foam.

The 3 cm thick foam support layer regulates the temperature within the mattress by allowing all excess heat to pass through. 🥵

This new, patented foam technology counteracts the heat-retaining properties of memory foam and keeps your mattress cool on warmer nights.

Visco-Elastic HRX Foam

The middle layer of the Emma mattress consists of NASA - developed ^[1] viscoelastic foam.

This high-resilience foam has a soft surface that allows contouring, and the slow response reduces the bounce of the memory foam.

The zero-gravity foam, designed using Space technology, provides continuous zones optimised for perfect spinal alignment. 🛸

The high-density foam provides body-hugging comfort.

Cold Foam

The base layer of the mattress consists of supportive cold foam with a high density.

It is made of polyurethane foam, which is foamed in large blocks and stores heat well.

This makes the Emma mattress much more adaptable and hypoallergenic. 🤧

With the necessary support from the base layer, it provides optimal relief for your spine.

The cold foam gives you more stability overall and ensures the mattress's durability.

Emma mentions her original mattress as a medium-firm mattress.

But some of our testers have tried it, and we would rather mention it on the softer side.

Measuring sinkage depth

The best way to measure the firmness of a mattress is to test how deep it sinks.

This is also a good indicator of how supportive a mattress is for people sleeping in different positions.

Our sleep testers tried the Emma mattress to test how deep it sinks when you sleep. 👩🏻

During our test, we consistently measured the sinking of the mattress in the same place:

• While sleeping on the back and side, we measured the sinkage at the hips and shoulders.
• When sleeping on the stomach, we measured the sinkage at the stomach.

Here's a brief overview of our sleep test.

The values we found in our sleep test are typically found in softer mattresses.

We found that our light and medium sleepers neither sink too little nor too deeply into the mattress.

However, our heavyweight test sleeper sank quite deeply into the mattress.

The Emma mattress India provides the proper support for light and medium sleepers or people with a smaller stature. 🛌

Although the mattress was able to support the spine and its alignment, people who weigh more than 80 kg might find the mattress too soft for them.

Testing Edge Support

Besides the sinking in, we also tested the edge stability of the mattress. 🧐

By edge support, we mean the support you experience from the mattress when sitting on the edge.

This can be either before you get up in the morning or when tying your shoelaces.

If a mattress has poor edge support, you feel like you're slipping, especially when you sit on the edge or sleep close to the edge.

Usually, softer mattresses have inadequate edge support.

Emma offers average edge support, which means you may not feel like you're sliding down the edge, but it doesn't necessarily provide the support you need.

If you are looking for a good edge support, Sleepwell mattresses are a good alternative.

The Emma mattress comes with a 100-nights trial period as standard, which starts on the day your mattress is delivered.

But why are these trial periods so important? 🤔

It can take between 4 and 6 weeks to get used to the surface and material of the mattress.
